The Mansfield Women's Club celebrated its 25th anniversary Thursday, announcing that the club has raised more than $1 million.

In the past quarter century, the club has raised funds from annual events and then distributed them throughout the community to area non-profits and college scholarships.

Officers fired off confetti in the ballroom at Walnut Creek Country Club, then unfurled a banner with $1,019,494 to announce that the club had met their goal.

Club members then welcomed six of their seven $2,000 scholarship winners and their mothers and presented them with roses.

Women's Club scholarship winners this year included Lily Dang of Mansfield High, Sarah Al-Noubani of Summit High, Skyla Simpson of Timberview High, Vy Duong of Lake Ridge High, Averie James of Legacy High, Sualeha Irshad of Early College High and Angelica Le.

After lunch, the club presented $62,500 in awards to local nonprofits Common Ground, Harvesting in Mansfield, All Star Equestrian, SafeHaven of Tarrant County, Metroplex Women's Clinic, Building Wishes, Friends of the Mansfield Public Library and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.
