Mansfield Record
The opening week of district play brought wildly mixed results for Mansfield’s football teams.
Mansfield (2-2, 0-1 District 11-6A), which won its final non-district game on a last-second field goal, suffered the other side of that situation, falling to Red Oak, 23-20, on Thursday night.
On Friday night, Timberview (4-0, 1-0 7-5A DII) served its homecoming crowd an overwhelming victory in a 64-0 win over Burleson at Vernon Newsom Stadium. The Wolves are No. 7 in the Texas Football 5A Division II state rankings.
Legacy (1-3, 1-0 8-5A DI) registered its first win of the season in convincing fashion, routing Cleburne, 62-14.
Lake Ridge (2-2, 0-1 11-6A) faced top-ranked Waxahachie, and fell, 63-27. The Eagles had opened a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Waxahachie’s 42-point second quarter propelled it to the win.
Summit (1-3, 0-1 8-5A DI) fell to Lancaster, 21-7, on the road.
This week features two intradistrict games, with Summit celebrating homecoming by playing host to Legacy at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vernon Newsom Stadium.
Lake Ridge is the home team vs. Mansfield at 7 p.m. Friday at Newsom.
Timberview travels to face Midlothian at 7 p.m. Friday at Midlothian ISD stadium.
