Mansfield ISD honors district volunteers

The Mansfield ISD honored those who volunteer in the school district Wednesday morning at the Partners in Education banquet at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for Performing Arts.

Charles "Big C" Caldwell was honored as the Mentor of the Year for his work mentoring to three students in the district.

Longtime volunteer and Mansfield ISD school board member Desiree "Dez" Thomas was named Volunteer of the Year.

Common Ground Network, which works with the school district on the Back to School Bash and mentoring program, was honored as the Community Partner of the Year.

Sixty-two mentors work with children each week in the district, more than 5,500 volunteer at the schools and more than 250 businesses support the district, according to the Mansfield ISD.
