City plans haunted Wallace-Howl Art House

For the second year the City of Mansfield’s Cultural Arts team will transform the Wallace-Hall Art House into the Wallace-HOWL Art House, a themed haunted house walk-through designed by local artists Robin Moody and Culley Franks.

"This promises to be unlike any other haunted house you have experienced. We wanted artistic creativity to be the focal point of this attraction,” said Public Art Manager Christopher Bryant. “The concept, design, and installation were all fully carried out by local artists. The result is an interactive experience that is nothing short of amazing, and I have no doubt families will enjoy this artfully fun haunt!"

The Wallace-HOWL Art House is open from 6-10 p.m. Oct. 15, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30 and is part of the month of Haunted Mansfield events, which include weekly ghost hunts, the family-friendly Haunt the Block, Crawl the Block and more as the city promotes itself as The Most Haunted City In Texas.

Cost to go through the haunted house is $5, except during Haunt the Block on Oct. 15, when admission will be $2.50. The house is at 210 S. Main St.

The attraction aims to mix seasonal spookiness with artistic merit, giving attendees more than just a few frights but intricately designed artwork to appreciate.

“As a local artist, I'm genuinely excited for the community to see what a handful of talented creators can generate with the amazing support of the Mansfield Commission for the Arts and the Public Art Program,” said artist Robin Moody, “We're carefully crafting a story for our guests to follow along with.”

One of the oldest homes in Mansfield, originally built in 1878, the Wallace-Hall House has been transformed into a permanent art gallery and maker space over the past three years, hosting a dozen unique galleries, daily art classes and providing studio rooms for local artists.

“Eleanor Awaits” follows the story of Eleanor, the playful young spirit who still calls the historic home her own. Over the years, the house has collected countless memories within its walls and with Eleanor still there, those memories have begun to come alive in mysterious and unexpected ways. As guests journey from room to room, Eleanor guides them through a whimsical world where memories repeat and objects seem to have minds of their own. Along the way, visitors will help Eleanor rediscover joyful moments from the past and bring a little peace back to the house she loves.

"I'm so happy to be able to introduce Mansfield to the precocious little girl who ‘haunts’ the Wallace-Howl House, and I hope you're not too scared to stay and play with her,” said artist Culley Frankes. “Little Eleanor's story immerses the guest in a house full of life and excitement, and carries guests brave enough to spend time with a ghost through an actual haunted house."

Designed and installed by local artists with families in mind, “Eleanor Awaits” blends Halloween fun, mystery, imagination and interactive surprises. Expect an eerie atmosphere and a few playful chills, but no intense scares, just a delightfully spooky adventure for guests of all ages.

The art house experience typically lasts approximately 15 minutes, providing a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in our curated displays and engaging atmosphere.
