Mansfield aims for homecoming win

Mansfield takes its place in the homecoming circle this week, hosting Waco at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Vernon Newsom Stadium, 3700 E. Broad St.

The Tigers look to improve their District 11-6A record after losing last week at Duncanville, 35-0. That left Mansfield at 2-3 overall, 1-1 in district. Waco has struggled this season, falling to 1-3 and 0-2.

Lake Ridge also plays a home game Friday night, meeting Waxahachie at 7:30 p.m. Friday at R.L. Anderson Stadium, 1016 Magnolia St. The Eagles are looking for their first victory of the season after being shut out, 42-0, by DeSoto last week. Waxahachie (1-4) seeks its first district victory after a 35-10 defeat by Cedar Hill last week.

Legacy dropped Birdville, 49-28, at Newsom Stadium on Thursday night. The Broncos are 2-3 overall, 1-2 in district play.

Summit hit the road this week, traveling to meet Richland at the Birdville FAAC on Thursday night.

Timberview draws an off night after a postponement of their scheduled game this week.
