Sherri was born on Nov. 26, 1946, to Catherine and Francis (Al) Strachan in Grand Junction, Colorado. Her siblings were Richard (Dick) Strachan and James (Jim) Strachan. Sherri was very fond of her extended family. She adored her Aunt Mary and Uncle Tommy Lynch. Throughout her life she spent as much time as possible with the family in Leadville, Colorado, composed of many Lynches and Websters.

Sherri married Daniel D. Chambers on Sept. 4, 1967. 2025 marked their 59th wedding anniversary.

Sherri was a proud alumnus of Grand Junction High School. She went on to attend Mesa State Junior College with her best friend Kathy Raff, where she achieved her Associates Degree before going to Colorado State University in 1968. Here she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. In 2006, Sherri obtained her Master’s in Education from Southern Methodist University.

Throughout her career, Sherri was blessed to teach at a variety of schools. Her first teaching job, in 1967 was in Longmont, Colorado, teaching middle school. She then became a ninth-grade teacher in Alamogordo, New Mexico, in the early 70’s, before moving to Pasadena, Texas, to continue her career in the mid-70’s. After moving to Austin, Texas, in 1977, she began teaching at Del Valley High School, where she stayed until the early 1990’s. She then

taught at Hayes High School until 1996. At that time, Sherri moved to Mansfield, Texas, and taught at Mansfield, Summit and Legacy high schools until her retirement in 2010, at which time she was proud to be awarded Campus Teacher of the Year.

In 1982, Sherri was baptized at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Austin.

Sherri was the adopter of neighbors, lover of animals, collector of rocks and an avid gardener. In her retirement, she loved to travel, equally enjoying her trip to Italy as to any National Park.

Sherri is survived by her loving husband Daniel, and her three children Todd, Adam and Amy. She leaves behind six wonderful grandchildren: Micah, Rebeccah, Sean, Aaron, Gabriel and Ava, as well as two precious great-grandchildren, Jedidah and Lydia.
