Two dead after shooting in east Mansfield

Two people are confirmed dead after Mansfield police responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the 700 block of Fannin Lane on Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the call at 11:33 a.m. and found a woman with a gunshot wound in her neighbor’s garage. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. When officers approached a nearby home, they heard what sounded like a gunshot from inside the residence, according to Mansfield police.

Police surrounded the home while officers obtained a search warrant. The stand-off continued for approximately three hours, shutting down traffic in the east Mansfield neighborhood.

When police entered the home, they found a deceased adult man. The identities of both of the deceased are being withheld until the next of kin have been notified.
