Suspect in Timberview High shootings surrenders

The 18-year-old suspect the Wednesday morning shooting at Mansfield Timberview High School has surrendered to police and is in jail.

Timothy George Simpkins of Arlington has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault in the shootings, which resulted in injuries to four people, including three students.

The shooting occurred after a fight between students in a second-floor classroom at Timberview High School, 7700 S. Watson Road in Arlington.

The 2,000-student campus was evacuated with students transported to the Mansfield ISD Center for Performing Arts, 1110 W. Debbie Lane. Parents and guardians can pick up their children there.

Some students who were witnesses to the shooting are being detained at the Timberview campus.
