Mansfield ISD’s two playoff teams hit the road for their second-round matchups Friday.
Summit (8-3) will meet El Paso Chapin (9-2) at 3 p.m. Friday at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland in a Class 5A Division I area-round matchup. Timberview (7-4) faces Ennis (11-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Waxahachie Lumpkins Stadium in a Class 5A Division II area-round game.
Summit and Timberview cruised to opening-round victories last week. Summit topped Azle, 38-14, and Timberview rolled past Dallas Kimball, 72-13.
Summit, which advanced to the Class 5A state semifinals last season, finished second in District 5A Division I with a 6-1 league mark, second only to Colleyville Heritage. The Jaguars are riding momentum, having won four consecutive games and seven of their past eight games. The Summit-Chapin winner will face the winner of the game matching Lubbock Coronado and Midlothian.
Timberview also finished second in its district, District 5-5A DII, with a 5-2 league mark, trailing only Aledo. The Wolves also have won their past four games, and six of the past seven. The winner of Timberview’s game will advance to meet the winner of the Burleson-Lovejoy matchup.
