Mansfield ISD is proud to be among the elite group of educational institutions recognized by the Texas Association of School Business Officials with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Financial Management. MISD’s finance team, led by Monica Irvin, is one of just 32 in the state to receive this recognition.

Established in 2020, the award is given to Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education services centers that demonstrate professional standards, best practices, and innovations in the area of financial management and reporting.

“We are grateful to be a recipient of this award, and we’re proud to have our hard work recognized,” said Associate Superintendent of Business and Finance Michele Trongaard. “Our staff is committed to supporting the district’s vision which puts our students first.”

The criteria to qualify for the Award of Excellence in Financial Management is stringent, based on financial accounting and reporting guidelines identified by the Texas Education Agency Financial Accountability System Resource Guide. Applicants must submit documents across 11 key areas, which are reviewed by a TASBO accounting subcommittee.

In addition to the Award of Excellence, the Finance Department’s purchasing division, led by Ed Harper, also received the TASBO Award of Merit for purchasing operations which demonstrates a commitment to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.
