The Mansfield ISD Hall of Honor inducted some legendary players, a beloved coach and principal and a football team that has gone further than any in district history.
On Saturday afternoon, approximately 100 friends, family and fans watched as the hall added Mansfield High swimmer Michael Thibert II, Timberview High basketball player Lili Thompson, Summit High principal Jason Mutterer, who coached the girls and boys basketball teams, and the 2015 Lake Ridge High football team.
Thibert was a two-time state champion for Mansfield High School and went on to become a Southeastern Conference Champion and USA National Swimming Champion at Texas A&M University and a 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials competitor.
Thompson helped lead Stanford University to the Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final Four, then helped the University of Notre Dame to a national championship. She was the 17th female to play with the legendary Harlem Globetrotters.

Mutterer has spent 33 years in the Mansfield ISD, starting as a PE teacher at T.A. Howard before serving as an assistant coach to help guide Mansfield High's girls basketball team to four state titles. He was Summit's first boys basketball coach, leading to 13 straight state playoff appearances. He also coached high jumpers for Mansfield track and field. He was named Summit High principal in 2022.
The 2015 Lake Ridge High football team amassed a 15-1 record, with their only loss in the Class 5A Division I state title game, further than any football team in Mansfield ISD history. Led by Coach Kirk Thor, the squad was only in the fourth year since the school opened.
Each honoree will have a plaque with their bio and photo placed in the Community Room at Vernon Newsom Stadium.
