Ankara African-American Festival celebrates 12th year

Ankara Festival Texas, Dallas' biggest African fashion, music and comedy festival and award night, moves to Mansfield for the 12th annual celebration.

The annual event, set for 6 p.m. April 29 at Olive Palm Event Center, showcases the beauty and talents of African fashion and entertainment and features U.S.-based Nigerian musician Olawale Ogundeyi popularly known as Lawale Victory.

Launched in 2011, Ankara Festival has become a major platform promoting African fashion and beauty to a global audience. The annual event has a special focus on "Ankara," which can be traced to the western part of Africa.

Audience members will be entertained with comedy, music and food, featuring the Ankara Marketplace, fashion show, concert and after-party.

General admission is $30, VIP tickets are $60 and a VIP Table for 10 is $700. The Olive Palm Event Center is at 6996 Dick Price Road.
