Mansfield Women's Club passes out scholarships, grants

Ten local non-profits were awarded grants totaling more than $68,000.

The Mansfield Women's Club handed out seven college scholarships and 10 grants to local non-profits at their meeting Thursday.

The local group presented $2,500 merit-based scholarships to young women from each Mansfield ISD high school, plus a special $2,500 scholarship in honor of former member Carol Esstman.

The winners were Hanna Abraham of Frontier/Early College; Abigail Shen of Lake Ridge; Sharon Shabu of Legacy; Emma Moore of Mansfield; Grace Aderounmv of Summit; Tammy Pham of Timberview; and Lucy Duku of Timberview, who won the Carol Esstman Scholarship.

The women's club also presented grants totaling $68,735 to 10 local non-profit organizations. The groups that received grants were CASA of Tarrant County, Common Ground/Feed the Kids, Methodist Health System Foundation, Friends of the Mansfield Public Library, Mansfield Mission Center, Cancer Care Services, Harvesting In Mansfield Food Bank, Metroplex Women's Clinic, The Archway and the Mansfield Historical Society.

New officers were also elected for the 2026-2027 year. They are President Nancy Vaughan, 1st Vice President Janet Brisson, 2nd Vice President Vicki Stevenson, 3rd Vice President Karen Payton, 4th Vice President Sandra Knox, Corresponding Secretary Alice Grady, Recording Secretary Robyn Doty, Treasurer Kathy Jackson, Assistant Treasurer Arvina Schroeder, Parliamentarian Becky Hearne and directors Sandy Kindrick, Mary Ozment, Donna Ciarkowski and Gayle Lambert.
