Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz told through the lens of Black culture comes to Theatre Arlington on June 5 with The Wiz.
Featuring newcomers Kayla Haskins (Dorothy), Christion Dior Draper (Lion) and Zachary J.Willis (Tinman), Theatre Arlington also welcomes back Maxton Rhys Sims (Scarecrow) and Janette Robinson (Glinda), along with an all-star ensemble easin’ on down the yellow brick road in a delightful, unforgettable retelling of the classic Oz story.
These iconic characters come to life in a bold, groundbreaking musical with all the valuable lessons you love:
Home is important and you carry it with you where you go.
Going through difficult times takes courage, brains, and heart.
It is better to take your friends with you on life’s journey.
You can accomplish anything if you believe in yourself.
Set and lighting designer Byran Stevenson teams up with guest director Sasha Maya Ada with fanciful costume designs by resident costume designer Hope Cox. Ryan Simon’s sound design will perfectly compliment the live band led by DFW legend Joe Rogers.
Come for the story, stay for the spectacle!
Group Ticket rates for the show are available for parties of 10 or more. Tickets are $40-$45.
