Methodist Mansfield appoints new nursing vice president

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Winans, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, as Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer.

Winans brings more than 30 years of nursing experience, including over a decade serving as a Chief Nursing Officer in both community and academic healthcare settings. Her clinical and leadership expertise spans women and infant services, critical care, stroke care and inpatient rehabilitation.

A highly respected and collaborative leader, Winans is known for fostering high-performing teams grounded in trust, accountability and professional practice. She is passionate about developing nurse leaders, advancing workforce innovation and partnering with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes.

“Dr. Winans is a transformational leader whose passion for nursing excellence and compassionate care will further strengthen our commitment to serving the Mansfield community,” said Juan Fresquez Jr., president of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. “Her ability to build strong teams and lead with purpose will continue to elevate the exceptional care our patients and families trust us to provide.”

Winans holds a doctorate in nursing practice and a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management. She holds an advanced board certification as a nurse executive and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
