Mansfield Reads! celebrated its 22nd year of One City, One Book by welcoming best-selling author Paula McLain to the Mansfield Public Library on Friday evening.
Library staff had selected McLain's novel "When the Stars Go Dark" as the 2026 book for the community to read.
More than 130 people crowded into the library to hear McLain at "An Evening with the Author" to head and interview with McLain and moderator Bobby Quinten and to discuss the book, along with McLain's other books, which include "Skylark" and "The Paris Wife."
Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans presented McLain with a key to the city.
Mansfield Reads! began in 2004 with the Friends of the Mansfield Library, which ran the program for 20 years. After a break for Covid, the Mansfield Library reignited the popular project last year.
