The Mansfield ISD Education Foundation packed The Grand ViewMansfield on Friday night for its second annual gala.
“We sold out twice,” said Mansfield ISD Education Foundationdirector Jennifer Kurecka. “I just kept adding people. I finally had to cut itoff at 272. Last year we had 223 and I thought if we had 250 this year, we’d bedoing good.”
The Denim & Diamonds event raises funds for grants forMansfield ISD teachers for innovative projects in their classrooms andscholarships for district paraprofessionals to get their degrees. The gala wascatered by Hurtado Barbecue, and featured a silent auction, dancing, casino andheads or tails game.
“All of (the funds raised) are going to grants for2026-2027,” Kurecka said. “This year we gave out $232,000 in grants and $75,000in Frances Brownlie Scholarships.”
The turnout and sponsorships for the event were incredible,she said.
“This is above and beyond what I thought it would be,”Kurecka said. “Thanks to the community, we can change lives one grant at atime.”
