The slate for the Mansfield ISD and Mansfield City Council races is set, with one after-deadline change.

Local business owner Eric Rozak, who had filed to run for Place 7 on the City Council, announced Thursday that he was withdrawing his name from the ballot.

With Rozak leaving the race, that leaves former Mansfield ISD Superintendent Jim Vaszauskas unopposed for the Place 7 council seat. Larry Broseh, who is the current council member at Place 7, did not file to run after serving six terms on the council.

Incumbent Todd Tonore, a local business owner, is the only candidate to file for the Place 6 position. Tonore was first elected to the council in November 2020, and currently serves as mayor pro tem.

The deadline to file to run for council and Mansfield ISD school board was Feb. 13.

On the Mansfield ISD board, Places 6 and 7 are up for re-election.

Incumbent Courtney Lackey Wilson and local business owner Michele Gooch have filed for Place 7.  Wilson has been elected to the seat five times, but had to resign in 2021 due to health reasons. She was re-elected in 2023.

Current school board president Benita Reed is unopposed for Place 6. Reed, a college English professor, was first elected to the board in 2023.

Mansfield City Council and Mansfield ISD school board members are elected to three-year terms.

Early voting will run from April 20-28 for the May 2 election.
