Summit took the opening kickoff of the second half and needed only five plays to score, with Omogbalaha sprinting 41 yards to give Summit a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The extra-point attempt was blocked, and Timberview’s Geraci Martin returned it 94 yards for two points, making Summit’s lead 20-16 with 2 ½ minutes gone in the second half.
Summit scored the next two touchdowns, the first on a 37-yard pass from Demarus Bird to Domonique Young, who later had a fumble recovery, and an 89-yard interception return that was nullified by a penalty.
The Jags later got a 1-yard scoring run from Adarion Nettles to build the lead to 32-16 with just over 8 ½ minutes to play. Timberview cut the lead to 10 when Portley scored his second touchdown, from 6 yards out about a half-minute later.
Gebhardt put the Jags up 39-22 with a scintillating 54-yard run up the middle of the field with 5 minutes left in the game. Timberview got another 1-yard touchdown run from Portley just after the 2-minute warning to wrap up the scoring.
