Beginning in October, the Mansfield Public Library will officially become fine free, eliminating late fines on overdue items. This change helps patrons save money, reduce stress and remove barriers to library access.

Here’s what’s changing — and what isn’t:

- No more late fines on overdue books and other standard circulating materials.

- Due dates still apply, and items overdue by more than 15 days will be marked as lost.

- Eligible materials still have three renewal opportunities (three weeks each) as long as no one else is waiting.

- Wi-Fi hotspots will continue to check out for seven days only and will still be fined $1 per day past the due date.

- Replacement costs still apply for items that are lost or damaged.
