North Crowley needed little time to show why it’s one of the top teams in North Texas by defeating Legacy, 68-0, Friday night at Vernon Newsom Stadium.

The Panthers (4-1, 1-0 District 3-6A) took the opening kickoff and needed only three plays to score a touchdown. After quarterback Demarcus Harris completed a 46-yard pass to Kade Smith, North Crowley’s Jayden Shaw scored from 2 yards out for an 8-0 lead 1 ½

minutes into the game.

The Panthers played a nearly flawless game in all phases, with a rigid defense, an explosive offense and aggressive special teams. The defense recovered a fumble and had an interception in the first quarter, both setting up touchdowns. North Crowley set

up another first-quarter touchdown by blocking a Legacy punt deep in the Broncos’ territory.

Legacy Broncos (2-3, 0-1 3-6A) found some running room on offense, with junior running back J’Uan Harrison moving the ball on the ground. He rushed for 45 yards in the first half.

Legacy surged into North Crowley territory for the first time about midway through the second quarter, when quarterback Nathan Wilson hit D’Andre Thomas with a 28-yard pass to move the ball to the Panthers’ 32-yard line. But a tackle for loss, a sack and an

incomplete pass forced a punt.

In all, eight players scored touchdowns for North Crowley, which won the Class 6A state title last year with a 16-0 record.

In other games involving Mansfield ISD teams this week, Summit defeated Grapevine, 58-14, on Thursday; Mansfield knocked off Boswell, 34-12, on Friday; and Timberview beat Everman, 42-27, on Friday. Lake Ridge was idle.
