Summer officially splashes down in Grand Prairie this weekend with the seasonal opening of Epic Waves, the outdoor wave pool at Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark. The wave pool opening is the centerpiece of the waterpark's action-packed Summer Bash happening Memorial Day weekend from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Famous as the largest indoor waterpark in North Texas, Epic Waters offers year-round, climate-controlled thrills — from towering waterslides and a lazy river to the region’s only indoor surfing simulator. Starting this weekend, the fun will spill outside as well as indoors, with plenty of opportunities to soak up sun in the wave pool, dance to live DJ sets, and enjoy delicious frosty beverages at the waterpark's outdoor bar. The Summer Bash will also offer face painting, family games like cornhole and hula hoop contests, craft activities, dance parties and special appearances by mystical mermaids and Waddles, the Epic Waters mascot.

The Summer Bash will also mark the debut of the waterpark's new mobile ordering system for the Hungry Wave Café. Guests can order from their phone, receive a text notification when their order is ready, and pick it up at the window—no standing in long lines required.

Epic Waters will be open daily, rain or shine, through Labor Day weekend. For those who want to keep the party going all summer long, the waterpark is offering a limited-time summer pass special, for $79, available through May 25. Passholders enjoy unlimited visits through Labor Day, free parking and full access to the park’s 12 epic water attractions, including the newly reopened wave pool.

Epic Waters is a signature destination of EpicCentral, Grand Prairie’s 172-acre dining and entertainment district. The area is home to adventure parks, scenic green spaces, waterfront restaurants and Illuvia, a free Vegas-styled water and light show happening nightly.

Pro tips for a smooth splash: Don’t forget the essentials — towels and sunscreen are a must (but no worries if you do; the Epic Waters gift shop’s got you covered). Also, don’t forget that summer days bring larger crowds, and the waterpark limits capacity in order to ensure the best possible experience for guests. Save your spot by buying tickets in advance online.
