Methodist Mansfield Medical Center celebrates nine months of dedicated trauma care since officially beginning its journey to become a Level II Trauma Center on Sept. 1, 2024. Since that time, the hospital has cared for more than 1,000 trauma patients, providing lifesaving interventions close to home.
The hospital’s pursuit as a Level II capable trauma facility has strengthened emergency medical services in the region and reflects Methodist Mansfield’s commitment to delivering comprehensive, high-quality trauma care 24/7.
“Our ability to care for such a significant number of trauma patients in just nine months underscores the need for advanced trauma services in our community,” said Methodist Mansfield Medical Center President Juan Fresquez Jr. “We are proud of our entire team - surgeons, nurses, emergency physicians and support staff—who are ready around the clock to save lives.”
The Texas Department of Health and Human Services requires Level II trauma facilities to provide a major level of trauma care, one step beyond “advanced trauma care,” including immediate access to trauma surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and neurosurgeons, operating rooms, specialized equipment, and intensive care units. This milestone is a major step forward for trauma readiness in Mansfield and the surrounding areas, eliminating the need to transfer most critically injured patients to distant facilities.
“We are proud to offer the people of Mansfield and the surrounding region the trauma care they deserve, right here in their community,” said Fresquez. “This journey reflects our mission to improve and save lives every day.”
Methodist Mansfield looks forward to continuing its commitment to Level II trauma care and thanks the community for its ongoing support."
