Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester announced Harmoni Turner of Mansfield and Lisa Donovan as honorees for the 2025 New England Women’s Leadership Awards held May 13. Tricia Corcoran Chapple, Susanne Corcoran Early, Kathy Corcoran, Gayle Corcoran and Linda Corcoran received the organization’s Circle of Giving award in recognition of their philanthropic contributions. Established by BGCD in 1993, NEWLA honors exceptional local women who meet challenges head-on with confidence, persistence and compassion. Honorees serve as inspiring role models and mentors for BGCD’s young members, empowering them to overcome obstacles, set ambitious goals and work hard to achieve them.
Turner, a senior at Harvard University, made history by leading the Crimson to the NCAA March Madness Tournament for the first time in nearly 20 years. Her all-around game, including her scoring, playmaking and defensive skills, helped elevate her team to new heights and firmly established her as one of the top players in the NCAA. In addition to her collegiate achievements, Turner was a standout on Team USA’s 3x3 women’s basketball team during the 2024 Olympics, where she played a key role in leading the team to victory and winning the Gold Medal. Turner will graduate in this month
with a degree in African American Studies, balancing her academic excellence with her athletic achievements.
Turner, who captained the girls' basketball team at Legacy High School before graduating in 2020, was drafted 35th overall by the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces in April.
Off the court, Turner is deeply committed to empowering young women through her nonprofit organization, Pretty N' Secure, which focuses on building self-confidence and providing mentorship for girls.
Lisa Donovan headlines her own radio show, Billy & Lisa in the Morning, and previously co-hosted Matty in the Morning. Prior to her career in radio, Lisa spent 10 years as a public relations professional, serving as Senior Manager of Public Relations for Coach Inc. in New York City and Vice President of Kortenhaus Communications in Boston. She has also worked with many lifestyle brands throughout her career.
“Congratulations to Harmoni and Lisa on this well-earned recognition, and to Tricia, Susanne, Kathy,
Gayle, and Linda, whose unwavering dedication to BGCD has profoundly impacted our youth,” says Bob
Scannell, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester. “We are proud to recognize the remarkable example
these role models set for our members and to celebrate all they have achieved.”
