Summit, Timberview maintain postseason push

Summit and Timberview continue their late-season surges,winning their second-round playoff games to advance in the UIL footballplayoffs.

Summit faces Midlothian at 7 p.m. Friday at Grand Prairie’sGopher/Warrior Bowl in a Class 5A, Division I Region I semifinal game. TheJaguars (9-3) have rolled through the playoffs, scoring 94 points in their twovictories, the latest a 56-7 decision over El Paso Chapin.

Midlothian (8-4) has won three consecutive games, includinga second-round win over Lubbock Coronado. Summit reached the Class 5A DivisionI state semifinal last season, falling to eventual state champion Denton Ryan.

Timberview will meet Lovejoy at 7 p.m. Friday at a site tobe determined in a Class 5A Division II regional semifinal game. The Wolves(8-4) drew state notice with a second-round 42-21 victory over perennial statepower Ennis, which had not lost this season.The Leopards (11-1) edged Burleson,28-23, in their second-round game.

The Wolves went three rounds in last season’s playoffs,falling to Lovejoy.
