Football season is well into district play, and this week’s games feature a matchup of Mansfield ISD teams and a pair of Homecoming games.

Summit hosts Legacy at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vernon Newsom Stadium, 3700 E. Broad St., as both teams enter on two-game losing streaks. The contest is Summit’s homecoming. Tickets are available by pre-sale only, at www.ticketspicket.com. No tickets are sold on-site.

The Jaguars (1-2) were forced to play an unscheduled non-district game last week at Ennis after their scheduled game with Burleson Centennial was canceled. Summit lost, 63-26.

Legacy (1-2) enters Thursday’s game coming off a 45-21 loss to Red Oak to open District 4-5A Division I play. The Hawks and Broncos traded first-quarter touchdowns, but Red Oak scored the next 31 points to put Legacy into a hole too deep.

All of the other Mansfield ISD teams have Friday night games this week. Lake Ridge (0-4) hosts DeSoto in a District 11-6A game, the Eagles’ homecoming, at 7:30 p.m. at Newsom Stadium.

Mansfield is at Duncanville for a District 11-6A game at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Tigers (2-2) opened district play with a 28-24 victory against Waco Midway last week.

Timberview (2-1) travels to Joshua for a 7 p.m. Friday District 5-5A Division II game. The Wolves lost, 31-11, on the road against Burleson last week.
