Summit downs Midlothian to continue playoff run

The Summit Jaguars are still in the hunt for a state title after downing Midlothian 28-20 Friday night at the Gopher/Warrior Bowl in Grand Prairie.

The Jaguars (10-3) used a balanced scoring attack to earn the win, putting a touchdown on the scoreboard in every quarter to get past Midlothian (8-5) to win the Class 5A, Division I, Region 1 final.

Summit will play Colleyville Heritage (12-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex, 9200 Mid Cities Blvd. in North Richland Hills.

Timberview (8-5) lost a 24-20 heartbreaker to Lovejoy (12-1) on Friday at the Ford Center in Frisco, ending the Wolves’ season. Lovejoy will play South Oak Cliff (12-1) on Dec. 4.
