We talk a lot about changing the way you think about cleaning so that it becomes easier to accomplish what is needed. What if I told you not to clean the room but reset the room before you leave it?
If your family has spent the evening in the living room and there are throw pillows tossed around, blankets and snacks out, just reset the room prior to going to bed. Put the throw pillows back in place, fold the blankets and put them away, pick up the snacks. You have just reset the room and saved yourself from having to clean it.
I know we are just saying it differently but I believe it might help you think about it differently. Do it before you go to bed so you don't have to wake up to a mess.
Getting ahead of the need to clean by resetting each room after you have used it will make the deep-down cleaning part easier when the time comes.
