Obituary: James Michael “Mike” Wilson, Ph.D.

It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Mike Wilson, a loving husband, an inspirational father, a devoted grandfather and a pioneering IVF scientist. He will be remembered fondly and deeply missed; not only by his family, but by the numerous other lives he touched across his journey. He departed this world at peace on

Dec. 9, 2023, leaving behind his wife and family, a legacy of leadership, dedication and familial commitment.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Wilson. He is survived by his wife Jan; daughter Kim Schrock and husband Kent (children Brylin and Audriana) of McKinney, Texas; daughter Cristy Hutton and husband Mark (children Anna, Reagan, and Jackson) of Liberty Hill, Texas; son Cole Wilson and wife Allison (children Beckett, Everett, and Brooks) of

Stilwell, Kansas; son Matthew Wilson and wife Natalie (children Lincoln and a baby girl on the way) of Littleton, Colorado; son Jason Wilson of Centennial, Colorado; and sister Janice Southall and husband Tommy of Waxahachie, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Village Presbyterian Church on Antioch, 14895 Antioch Rd, Overland Park, KS 66221. The service will be preceded by a visitation at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Resolve: The National Infertility Association or Heartland Therapeutic Riding.
