Billy Charles Middleton, 91, of Charlotte, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 11, 2022, at his home in Charlotte, N.C. He was born Dec. 23, 1930, in Mansfield to Herbert Ory Sr. and Lennie (Mudd) Middleton. Billy graduate from Mansfield High School as valedictorian, he served his country for four years in the United States Air Force while stationed in Southern Pines, N.C. After his service, he attended the University of Texas in Austin, thanks to the GI Bill, obtaining a bachelor's degree and graduated summa cum laude. The first job Billy interviewed for after college he accepted with Equitable Life Insurance Company and retired after 32 years of service. Billy's passions were running marathons, completed a total of 35, with 10 being the New York Marathon, 10 Boston Marathons and 10 Charlotte Marathons. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting all seven continents and almost every country within those continents.
He is preceded by his parents; brothers, Melvin Middleton, Herbert O. Middleton, Jr., and John E. Middleton; sisters, Jane Starling, Evelyn Brazil, and Katherine Middleton; and nephew, Bill Martin.
Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, Paul Middleton; nephews, Herbert O. Middleton, Jr. and wife Kathy, and Lonnie Gene Middleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends.
