Mansfield teams qualify for state competition

Members of the Ben Barber Innovation Academy’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) tech team qualified for the state competition following stellar performances at their regional competition in January.

“We are extremely proud of our BPA competitors and their teacher, Mr. Deon Martinez,” said CTE and CCMR Director LeighAnn Tamplen.

The state competition takes place in Corpus Christi from Feb. 28 through March 2.

Team Events

The Network Design Team took first place in a competition where they were tasked to build a new Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) for a rural area of North Dakota.

Alex Irick – Grade 12, Frontier High School

The Website Design Team took second place in a competition where they were asked to build a new restaurant website called “Game Day Grill.”

Gabriel Gomez – Grade 12, Frontier High School

Individual events:

Server Administration using Microsoft – First Place (State Qualifier)

Alex Irick – Grade 12, Frontier High School

Python Programming – First Place (State Qualifier)

Parker Meinershagen – Grade 12, Lake Ridge High School  

Python Programming – Second Place (State Qualifier)

Network Administration using Cisco – First Place (State Qualifier)
