Mansfield ISD earns B on state accountability

The Texas Education Agency released the 2021-2022 A-F Accountability Ratings. Mansfield ISD received a “B” rating for the 2021-2022 school year. Parents can visit TXSchools.gov for detailed information on MISD’s district and campus ratings.

“I could not be prouder of the incredible work of our teachers, students and parents. To have this level of achievement during the pandemic, dropping less than two percentage points, is an incredible testament to the emphasis our community puts on educating all students,” said MISD Superintendent Kimberley Cantu.  “Our students are growing, but we still have work to do.  We are focused on refining our programs and processes with the goal of continuous improvement."

“Learning loss brought on by the pandemic is a very real thing. Our students, staff and parents did an outstanding job pivoting to online learning, working through quarantine and health challenges, but nothing can replace face-to-face instruction,” said Associate Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction & Accountability Jennifer Young. “We are tackling the problem from all sides, including increased training for our staff and additional learning opportunities for our students.”

One such opportunity, MISD Summer Bridge, wrapped up last month. Summer Bridge is an annual program that provides students from Pre-K all the way through high school the opportunity to receive additional instruction. Teachers work closely with parents to determine which areas of additional instruction will benefit their students most. Students also have the opportunity to take enrichment classes, which, in addition to being fun, support students’ social and emotional learning. There have been adjustments to the Summer Bridge program specifically to address learning loss brought on by COVID-19. Similar adjustments have been made by providing students with focused extended-day learning through MISD’s after school program, Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE).

“We frequently communicate with Dr. Cantu and her leadership team regarding how the board can support them to ensure that every MISD student graduates with the skills they need to be successful in college, career and life,” said MISD Board President Courtney Lackey Wilson. “MISD has the absolute best teachers, administrators and support staff. They continually rise to meet any challenge and we have complete faith that they will do just that.”
