The Texas City Management Association has selected the Mansfield City Council as the recipient for its City Council of the Year Award. This award recognizes and honors city councils that have made significant contributions to local government in Texas.

The organization recognized the council’s commitment to ethics, citizen welfare, policy-making, financial management, promoting positive community relations, and more, in 2022. The organization selected the Mansfield City Council among submissions from across the state.

“This achievement would not be possible without every member of the City Council working together toward a shared vision,” said Mayor Michael Evans. “I am proud to serve on this team and accomplish big things for the people of Mansfield.”

The organization is composed of municipal government professionals from across the state. It holds the highest standards for governance, service, leadership and ethics.

“This City Council is most deserving of this recognition and it is easy to take for granted the hard work these men and women put into their roles as leaders,” City Manager Joe Smolinski said.

“They have the utmost respect for the seat they serve, they approach discussions with one another and the public civilly, and they take the initiative to build a better tomorrow for Mansfield.”

The organization will celebrate the City Council at its annual conference in June.
