Man dead after shooting in East Mansfield

One man is dead after a shooting in East Mansfield near Mansfield National Golf Course.

Mansfield Police Department responded to a shooting on Monticello Drive at 8:58 p.m. April 9.

When officers arrived, they located a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect had fled before the officers' arrival to the scene. Officers performed life-saving measures until medics arrived. The man was transported to Mansfield Methodist Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect was identified as Steven Shane Foster, 38. Officers and detectives pursued leads to locate him. They found Foster at a residence in Midlothian, and he was taken into custody without incident at around 11 p.m.

This was a domestic dispute, which evolved between an ex-fiancé and an ex-boyfriend of the female resident. Foster is charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once the next of kin has been notified.

This continues to be an active police investigation.
