The Hudson Gin operated in Bisbee for many years for cotton farmers in the area. Cotton was plentiful and profitable and the Houston and Texas Central Railroad eventually located a station by the gin. At the outset of World War I, cotton rotted in the field after men left to join the military. The cotton gin closed due to the decline in cotton production and the availability of pickers.
