Organizers of the Pickle Parade are branching out this weekend, hosting the Pickle Cornhole Tournament in downtown Mansfield on Saturday.
The event, which will raise funds for the annual March parade, will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Smith and Oak streets. Registration opens at 9 a.m., and bags will begin to fly at 10 a.m. in the singles and random draw competition. Entry fee for singles is $20 per person, and 50 percent of the entry fees will be paid out in prize money to the winners.
Entry in the random draw, which will run all morning, is $10 per person, with prize money awarded to the winners.
Doubles competition will begin at 1:30 p.m. with community (novice) teams and open (experienced) play. Entry fee is $50 per team. A $500 prize is guaranteed to the winning team in both contests.
In addition, two Money Train contests are planned, with the last person standing taking home half the entry fees.
Everyone who signs up to play will receive a free raffle ticket for prizes ranging from one-of-a-kind cornhole boards, cornhole bags, backpacks, gift cards and more. The raffle will run throughout the day. Extra raffle tickets can be purchased.
The St. Jude chapter of the Knights of Columbus will be selling food items, plus there will be a beer and soft drink tent, pickle merchandise and pickles.
Winning teams will take home trophies and jars of pickles. Proceeds will benefit the World's Only St. Paddy's Pickle Parade & Palooza, set for March 18-19, 2022.
