Coble was a star athlete for Mansfield High

Wayne Coble graduated from Mansfield High School in 1953. He played football, basketball and ran track. He was in FFA and Thespian Club. He attended Arlington State Junior College, where he lettered in football and set a new conference record in the shot put in 1955. Coble received a football scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University, where he majored in geology and graduated in 1957. Coble was inducted into the MISD Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.
